The Western Marquette County Health Foundation is dedicated to providing funding for health and wellness solutions for the communities within Western Marquette County. This includes, but is not limited to, the programs addressing the following Critical Health Indicators of the region (2010).
- Chronic Disease Education: Diabetes, Asthma, Arthritis, Cancer, Heart Disease
- Mental Health and Social & Emotional Support
- Prenatal Health
- Health and Wellness
- Un-or under-insured, primarily children
The Western Marquette County Health Foundation will prioritize funding based on programs that serve individuals in a specific geographic area, which is defined as the two cities (Ishpeming & Negaunee) and ten townships (Ishpeming, Negaunee, Ely, Michigamme, Tilden, Republic, Champion, Humboldt, Richmond). The foundation will review grants for programs that benefit the population of Marquette County and the Upper Peninsula.
The Western Marquette County Health Foundation will provide funding in the form of grants to non-profit agencies. Grant applications will be reviewed bi-annually on a competitive basis, with funding provided to those applications that seek to enhance health and wellness in the region. Success will be determined based on individual proposals, impact on the community, and sustainability. Grants for operational costs will receive low priority. Grant size varies based on request, however the average size is expected to range from $1,000-$10,000. Multi-year grants will be accepted, based on board approval of progress reports. You will be required to submit a report at the end of the grant period. Failure to do so will disqualify you from receiving additional funding from the foundation.
For 2014, grant applications will be due by June 30 and December 31. Please mail two copies of your grant application to:
