WHAT IS THE HEAD TO HEAD BIKE RACE?
The Head to Head Bike Race (previously known as the Bell Bike Race) is a competitive relay spinning bike race for teams of four people. Each relay spot will have a rider spinning for 25 minutes and allow for a five minute change-over for riders. Each team is encouraged to raise funds for their team registration; the minimum amount suggested is $50/person or $200 to claim an entire bike for your team! Prizes are awarded for the teams and individuals that raise the most funds, so encourage your family, friends or local businesses to support building a healthier community.
WHAT IS THE HEAD TO HEAD BIKE RACE FOR?
The H2H Bike Race is raising money for the Western Marquette County Health Foundation (previously Bell Foundation) and the YMCA of Marquette County. When Bell Hospital was sold to LifePoint Bell Foundation became a conversion foundation named Western Marquette County Health Foundation- this is a community health grant-making organization. Since its creation in 2013, the Foundation has provided funding of approximately $70,000 to community nonprofits (focused on Western Marquette County) and programming for health and wellness activities. The YMCA of Marquette County is the region’s leading organization for building a healthy community.
The Head to Head Race is not only for competitive riders; it’s for anybody interested in raising funds for a healthier community. Riders will receive exclusive Head to Head Bike Race t-shirts and the opportunity to win additional awards. Prizes are awarded on individual and team effort for areas like distance traveled, funds raised and spirit. Don’t want to spin? Support a local rider by pledging to their campaign and come down and CHEER for the only bike race that you can watch start to finish!
Become a “Team Captain” simply by registering by calling (906)204-2395 or emailing: firstname.lastname@example.org. You will receive a team captain packet that includes the team captain checklist, rider registration and pledge forms. You will also receive character commentary for your team to fill out, which tells us who you are and why you are riding. You may make this as detailed or fun as you want: do you want to have a team theme, slogan, or mascot? Are you in direct competition with another team? Try for spirit awards by choosing to spin in costumes, decorating your bike area, or other ways to make this morning an exciting way to raise funds for a healthy community.
